The oldest part of the city of Ibiza Santa
Eularia is Puig of Missa where the city first grew up. In the top
of the hill was built in 1302 the first chapel of the city in honor
to the local Patrona. In the XVI century it was reconstructed with
artillery pieces and it served as refuge for habitants against the
pirates attacks.
Ascend to Puig of Missa includes a visit to Can Ros, an old house
which now welcomes the Ethnography Museum of Ibiza, and another,
the Museum Barrau, next to the church. For tourists who don't want
to break their sport routine, Santa Eularia has a sports centre,
a soccer field and a covered pool at your disposal.
Calle San Jaime separates the town and main square into the old
quarter on the left and the new quarter with luxury apartments and
shops to the right. The Ibiza Santa Eularia Town Hall is in the
old section at the top of the Plaza España, with its fountains
& palm trees and it is from here that the little train starts
it's scenic tour of the beautiful surrounding countryside, an economic
alternative to hiring a car or bike.
Ibiza Santa Eularia has several handmade markets: s'Alamera, in the town;
Las Dahlias, in Sant Carles, where besides craft there are also performances
in direct and an alternative kitchen, and Punta Arabi market, in Es Canar.
On first Sunday of May takes place the party Anar a Maig, with folklore
performances, cattleman and agricultural street-walks.
